Staff at law firm Gillespie Macandrew have received a 7% bonus payment after it posted record results, including a 20% surge in profit to £6.3m (2024: £5.25m).
The bonus for the year to the end of February is up on last year’s 6.5% and is above the typical rate for larger Scottish Law firms for the fourth consecutive year.
Turnover was 11% higher at £19.6m (2024: £17.7m). The Edinburgh-based firm has therefore achieved double digit turnover growth in three of the last four years organically, and has doubled its turnover over the last ten years.
Gillespie Macandrew attributes its progress to having a clear business strategy focused on deepening its expertise in the firm’s four core sectors, Land & Rural Business, Energy, Private Client and Commercial Real Estate.
Chief executive Robert Graham-Campbell, said: “As these financial results demonstrate, our strategy of sector focus is paying dividends.”
Key deals include advising on Berwick Wind Farm and Seagreen Offshore Wind Farm; Criterion Capital on the purchase of the former Debenhams store in Princes Street, Edinburgh for a hotel development and assisting a private bank in the refinance of c.£33m of commercial investment properties.
The firm recently appointed former Coopes & Lybrand (later PwC) accountant Frank Blin as chairman.
Mr Graham-Campbell added: “The appointment of Frank signals an exciting new chapter for Gillespie Macandrew.
Gillespie Macandrew has other offices in Glasgow and Perth.
