Winning formula: Irn-Bru has hired a performance coach

AG Barr, the manufacturer of Irn-Bru, has turned to the world of Formula One to help with employee development.

It has hired Bradley Scanes who has 13 years’ experience coaching some of the world’s most elite athletes, including four-time Formula One World Champion Max Verstappen.

Mr Scanes, who becomes people performance director at the Cumbernauld drinks maker, has also worked with Olympic athletes, including gold medal gymnast Max Whitlock, advising on the habits and processes that lead to consistent success.

He will focus on the close connections between elite sport and business, embedding positive habits across the organisation, fine tuning proven processes and ensuring the business continues to lead through innovation.

Alison Gowen, chief people officer at AG Barr, said: “We know that our people are the key to our success. Bradley’s experience in helping elite athletes achieve their goals will be invaluable in creating a workplace where everyone can thrive.

“This is about backing our colleagues with world-class support, improving our collective capabilities and strengthening our culture to ensure we continue to set the standard in our industry.”

Mr Scanes said: “Working in Formula One has shown me how small changes in habits, culture and process can deliver world class results. AG Barr is a prestigious business with incredible brands and talented people, and I am excited to help unlock even more of that untapped potential. Together, we can take the business to new heights.”

He will join AG Barr on 10 December.
