Haines Watts Scotland has been acquired by S&W, the firm carved out of Evelyn Partners following the sale of its professional services business.
S&W, now based in London, has links to Scottish practice Smith & Williamson, which was founded in 1881. The deal is its fifth since it launched in March with backing from Apax Funds.
Graeme Miller, managing partner at Haines Watts Scotland, said: “Partnering with S&W marks an exciting new chapter for our team and our clients.”
Andrew Wilkes, chief executive of S&W, said: “Graeme’s team has built a strong reputation in Scotland, and this acquisition gives us a fantastic opportunity to introduce the S&W brand to this important market.
“This move reflects our continued commitment to growth, with strong backing from Apax Funds, and reinforces our ambition to be the go-to professional services firm for dynamic businesses and private clients with complex needs.”
Donna Bulmer, executive team member at S&W, said: “I’ve known Graeme for many years and greatly admire the business he has built. I’m thrilled to be working with Graeme and his team again as he leads S&W’s launch into Scotland.
“This acquisition helps drive our continued expansion across the UK and creates a great opportunity for us to provide even more clients with a broad range of services.”
S&W has more than 2,000 employees and in excess of 130 partners operating from 19 towns and cities in the UK and Republic of Ireland.
