Digital project consultancy Waracle has made its first overseas move by acquiring software developer HackSoft, based in Sofia, Bulgaria.
The deal provides the Abertay-University spin-out with a foothold in a key European tech hub and bolsters its expertise in digital product development across financial services, energy, health and the public sector.
Hacksoft, which specialises in product, web development and data services, launched in 2017, and now has a 55-strong team.
This acquisition follows a strong transformational year for Waracle, which is backed by growth capital investor BGF. In the past year it has grown its UK team to 210 across four offices in Dundee, Glasgow, Edinburgh and London.
Chief executive David Tuck said: “A key part of our strategy has been to find a talented team with technical capabilities that complement our own.
“We worked with Hacksoft for several months on a strategic client engagement, so we know first-hand our cultures align – we share similar values based on fostering a strong, inclusive culture and are both committed to being a trusted partner for our clients.
“HackSoft’s culture, technical talent, commitment to open source, and its impressive track record with its training academy makes it a fantastic addition to the Waracle team.”
