See whether Aldi is open on Thanksgiving

No matter how much planning you do and how many extra grocery runs you make in the days leading up to Thanksgiving, there’s always that one item you somehow need for the big meal.

Maybe you discover mid-prep that someone used the last drop of whipping cream in her morning coffee, or someone else spread the rest of the butter on a bagel.

Some Thanksgiving menu essentials are non-negotiable, so if you find yourself scrambling to fill in some grocery gaps, you’re probably looking for any grocery store that’s open.

Since most major retailers close their doors on Thanksgiving Day so their employees can spend time with family, this can be a challenge.

Costco, for example, only closes on seven days each year, and Thanksgiving is one of them. Trader Joe’s only closes three days each year, and yep, Thanksgiving is one of them.

Aldi closes on only four days each year.

Is Aldi open on Thanksgiving 2025?

If you’re hoping to do some last-minute shopping on Thanksgiving Day at Aldi, you’re probably wondering if your local store is open. Aldi only closes its doors to customers four days each year:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Easter Sunday
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day

If Aldi is your go-to, you’ll have to go elsewhere this Thanksgiving, since Aldi confirms on its website that all of its stores will be closed.

Some grocery chains that typically stay open, at least for limited hours, on Thanksgiving Day include Food Lion, Meijer, and some Whole Foods locations.
