Costco offers deal on theme park that rarely offers deals

Costco (COST) is the third-biggest retailer in the U.S., based on 2024 worldwide sales of $244.9 billion. It follows only behind Amazon and Walmart, according to Capital One Shopping.

Several features, such as its minimalist “warehouse” setup, contribute to its popularity.

“With a limited SKU count of around 4,000 — compared to over 30,000 in a typical supermarket — Costco simplifies inventory management and accelerates inventory turnover. Fewer SKUs enable Costco to negotiate better volume discounts and move products more efficiently, ultimately passing the savings on to its members,” writes Damotech.

Costco’s most recent Q4 results confirm the effectiveness of this strategy: Net income rose 11% year over year to $2.61 billion, while net sales increased 8% to $84.43 billion. Further, membership-fee income amounted to $1.72 billion, up 14% year over year, and shopping frequency also grew 3.7% worldwide, according to Costco’s earnings call.

Costco also constantly finds ways to attract more customers, such as through monthly coupon books, weekly/short term deals, special/seasonal events, or membership promotions.

Now, Costco has a new deal for members, focusing on a theme park that rarely offers promotions.

Costco releases a multi-day Disneyland ticket discount

Earlier this year, Costco released a Disneyland ticket discount at select warehouses. Since the offer was met with interest from many customers, Costco is now launching a similar Disneyland ticket promotion, according to Mickey Visit.

To celebrate Disneyland’s 70th anniversary, Costco rolled out a new discount offer at select Costco warehouses. The offer includes:

  • Disneyland 2-Day Park Hopper with Lighting Lane Multi Pass for $389.99

The discounted ticket is valid starting Jan. 8, 2026, and expires 13 days after the first day of use or on June 12, 2026, whichever comes first. It appears that the promotional tickets aim for the winter/spring season.

Why Costco’s Disneyland deal is worth considering

According to Disney Tourist Blog, the actual retail price of this ticket is $503, suggesting that the Costco deal represents a more than $100 savings. This has both benefits and downsides.

This deal seems valuable for 2-day visitors who are not eligible for other big discounts, such as the 2026 California resident tickets. Another plus is that the deal offers both Hopper and Lightning Lane multi-passes.

The downside is that it is still a high cost of about $195 per day, which is not ideal for “bottom-dollar” buyers. Another disadvantage is the limited 13-day window for first use.

According to Disney Tourist Blog, those who want longer-duration tickets, live outside the West Coast, aren’t Costco members, or are bottom-dollar buyers should seek alternatives, as the newest deal is “nothing like the previous crazy-good Costco deal.”

Costco has not officially confirmed where this deal ticket will be sold, but more information is expected soon.

 Disneyland’s rare, valuable promotions

Disneyland Resort periodically offers special theme park ticket deals, but there is no published schedule for these offers, according to Plan Disney.

These ticket deals typically occur only two or three times a year, and only Disney knows when the next one will roll out.

Disneyland’s promotional offers are not always the most valuable deals, according to Mouse Savers. While promo packages can be good, it is important to check the numbers.

Mouse Savers argues that even with promo packages, it is often possible to do better by making your own “package” with a discounted room reservations and tickets. It adds that “room-only” discounts usually become available at around the same time as package offers for the same period.
