Talks: Bill Foley

American businessman Bill Foley looks set to part ways with Hibs less than two years after paying £6 million for a 25 per cent stake in the Edinburgh club.

Talks are understood to be underway to see a deal done with the club’s majority shareholder, the Gordon family.

Foley owns English Premier League side Bournemouth through his Black Knight Group, but his first foray with a Scottish club showed signs of tension early in the relationship when he openly criticised the appointments of David Gray as head coach and Malky Mackay as sporting director.

The 80-year-old took out his shareholding in February 2024, but has yet to come to Scotland to watch the Hibees, who are currently sitting in third place in the Scottish Premiership.

At the time, the deal with Foley was described by the club as “game-changing” but it’s thought the billionaire now wants to recoup his original outlay along with additional investments he has made.

Black Knight, which also has stakes in Ligue 1 club Lorient and A-League leaders Auckland FC, has representatives on the Hibs board in the shape of president Tim Bezbatchenko, an executive director, and non-executive director Ryan Caswell.
